Hello, there! Happy Saturday. 🙂
Time for another “Woman Crush fill-in-the-blank,” as I have done so far for each month. Meet Sarah Kay, spoken-word poet and co-founder of Project V.O.I.C.E., a non-profit organization dedicated not only to performing spoken word, but also encouraging and fostering creative expression in classrooms all over the country.
As a spoken-word poet, she has blown me away not only in her performance, but also in her language. Touching on themes like family, love, and friendship, her words are universal to the audience. I first fell in love with her from her TED Talk performance, which you can view here:
I was also able to see her in person a couple months ago, at one of her spoken-word tours. It was such an honor to meet with her after the show, during her book-signing. Although it was only for less than a minute, her presence was awe-inspiring. Plus, the fact that she is tall. Damn.
Beautiful voice, beautiful words, Sarah Kay is a role model. And also not bad to look at. 😉
Give her some love, will you? And check out some of her poems!
