Sunrise (poem)

Seeing you here, upon
the eyes of golden fields
breaking the night’s shadow
into light, I love to watch you
stand in awe at the sun
giving birth to the earth—

The sun runs free,
and we chase it to the top of
the mountains smiling
at the sky, high on blue and
white clouds sailing through
the valleys and ponds
towards the distance between
us and the horizon.
