Break Free (poem)

Break Free

Quietly dreaming
of snowflakes,

Of slick rain at night
in Strasbourg

Gloveless fingers so numb
upon tender breaths

Around a snow globe
swirling sighs that slip

Underneath feet, over
jeans and pockets

In hands, wintered with
flurries that give lips

To glass, cupped inside
the dome, to break free

From this globe,
a world’s stage.
