Anxiety (poem)

Anxiety

Every thought of “hello”
makes me freeze
and I
want to curl myself
so small

not to be seen
by passersby
passing by my seat
a passenger crippled
with thoughts of “hello,”
“how are you,”
“ça va bien?”
“tu es contente de la vie?”

Happiness is forgotten
when I give myself
to each mistake, missed
opportunity lost in time
tethered to tenses
of the body,
demands to be served
out of fear,

fear of thoughts that strike
every second of the brain
with “hello,”
“hello,”
“hello.”
