In vino veritas (Poem)

In vino veritas

Drunken sins spill from your lips
with uncontrollable tastes of
ecstatic dream evenings
that take you away from thoughts
in and out of moonshine.

Stars cloud your eyes from
lies underneath tonight’s prayer,
in the form of glass
indelible on your mouth,

Drinking loveliness from
sweet-tart wisdom—
an uttered truth.

Thunderstorms that ignite a hurricane of words,
slurring symphonies
over each layer and layer of shots
that sing you goodnight
