Introducing: Doe Deere

Doe Deere is the owner and founder of Lime Crime Makeup Company, a makeup brand known for empowering women with unconventional colors that truly stand out.

Deere grew up in New York City but is a native of Russia. In 2008, she launched Lime Crime and has steadily attracted a legion of loyal followers in the years since. Deere herself has also taken on a pseudo-celebrity status, becoming the face of the brand in many ways.

Part of Deere’s popularity as an Internet personality is inspired by her beauty and creative look. She uniquely wears a style of makeup with bright colors that defines her company. Her look and style truly fit with Lime Crime and its marketing initiatives.

Since childhood, Deere has had an imaginative creative mind. Painting was one way that she expressed herself. And in her twenties, Deere experimented with plenty of different colors to see if any resonated with people. Glitter and bright colors quickly became the norm for Deere and in 2004 she started an Ebay business called Lime Crime, which was the first name she could think of. Deere sold clothes on Ebay and wanted her makeup to match the colors of the items she sold. One of the first things she launched was the Unicorn Lipstick that still remains one of the brand’s most popular products.

Here’s a video interview of Doe at the 2014 PHAMExpo:

Lime Crime’s products are made with non-animal ingredients. As one would expect, one of the brand’s most popular colors happens to be a bright lime green. Speaking to the empowerment of women that the brand communicates, Deere also feels that the Lime Crime name represents not being afraid to try something different.

Her artistic background landed her a spot in Inspiring Female Entrepreneurs by Self-Made magazine. Deere is a unique figure in the makeup world and has inspired plenty of other female entrepreneurs to follow their hearts and take risks. As she’s said many times before, the keys to success in the business world are creativity, hard work, and dedication.
