This week’s “Sunday Slow Jam” has been my current obsession for a week now (I’ve already mentioned this song in my LGBT top MV list, which you can check out here), but this bears reiterating, so why not do so? 😉
Titled “Holy,” this song by up-and-coming artist Zolita is simple in lyrics and minimal in its rhythm to produce a slow-burn, sensual song about God and sexuality. The music video, which you can view here, is a polished and well-produced art piece in itself which, as some critics have noted, gives off a Wes Andersen-The Crucible atmosphere. Although it has a cult-ish element to it, nevertheless it has a very dark, mysterious, and sexy vibe. Not to forget so gay (in all of the right ways!). 😉
Seriously, everything about this music video screams indie/art house. As well as the fact that Zolita (who also stars in the MV) has amazing chemistry with her love interest, played by Haley Pehrson (who is undeniably sexy, in that really sultry, androgynous way. I might have a crush on her, by the way) and that this 5-to-6-minute video could be a short film in itself.
As someone who identifies with the LGBTQ+ community, this music video just warms my queer heart and I am glad that LGBTQ+ representation is getting out there more in today’s day and age.
Feel free to give it a listen! Enjoy your Sunday. 🙂
