Happy Sunday, people!
This week’s “Sunday Slow Jam” is another trip down memory lane, going all the way back to the early 2000s with the hugely-popular The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which to this day remains one of my favorite childhood films. Not only was the movie itself fun and light, but the soundtrack was spectacular, with tons of pop-filled, infectious hooks to keep the preteen in me entertained for hours!
One of the songs from the soundtrack was LMNT’s “Open Your Eyes (To Love).” A ballad about loving yourself and loving the person you love, this track remains a favorite, even to this day. Although looking back the lyrics are a bit cheesy along with the production of this short-lived boy band (of which Glee’s Matthew Morrison had once been a part of, albeit briefly), this song still gives me the feels~
I admit, the quartet of singers, all of which come from different backgrounds, have pretty decent voices. The melodies harmonize quite well, I would have to say, and in the end produces a tender, uplifting love song that, when paired with the film, works wonders to inspire Lizzie McGuire herself to make the most of it while in Rome. Because really, who wouldn’t want to have a Paolo fall at your feet? 😉
Enjoy this throwback track! And have a good Sunday!
